Many people are not aware of all of the features that are available with PowerPoint. There is a rich array of media features that you can use to create awesome presentations.
Adding Audio and Animation Files to PowerPoint Presentations
A PowerPoint slide show will be more successful if you add a musical background. This is one of the properties that Power Point offers. You can use the music tracks from a CD or a digital file to set the scene for one or more slides. When you use music tracks for your PowerPoint exhibition, you create the interactive link you need to animate your presentation. Adding music to visual effects will customize and optimize the messages you communicate to your audience. PowerPoint tools allow moderators to create a dynamic experience with multimedia products.
Take the Following Steps to Add Audio to Your PowerPoint Slides
The process is relatively straightforward. Here are the six steps that you will need to take.
Step 1
Insert the CD into the drive, if that is where your audio files are coming from. Start PowerPoint and open the desired presentation by selecting “Open” from the “File” menu on the toolbar at the top of your screen. If your version is PowerPoint 2007, you can access this feature by clicking on the Microsoft graphical user interface.
Step 2
Find the slide you want and select “Movies and Sounds” under the “Insert” menu on the toolbar or for the 2007 version under the “Insert” tab. If you are using an MP3 file, choose the option “File sound”, but if the music you need is on a CD, select the option “Play CD audio track”.
Step 3
Select the music file you have chosen by clicking on “Insert sound”, then press the “OK” key.
Step 4
Click the “Automatically” button if you want the sound to play when the slide appears, otherwise click “Click” to have you manually start the music playback.
Step 5
Check that the speaker icon appears in the center of the slide. Click to select it and without releasing the button, drag the icon to another place on the slide.
Step 6
Click the speaker icon to select the sound button.
Adding Animation Files
Step 1
To activate the animation control panel, located on the right side of the window, select “Custom Animation” in the “Layout” option that appears on the toolbar at the top of your screen. If you are a PowerPoint 2007 user, you can access this function by going to the “Options” tab. It appears when you select the sound icon. If you have this version, go directly to step 2.
Step 2
Select the sound file from the “Animation” list in the panel and click the “Effects Options” button.
Step 3
Click the “Effects” tab in the “Play Sound” dialog box. Select the “After” command located in the “Don’t play sound” section. If you are a PowerPoint 2007 user, you can select the “Play through slides” option in the menu next to “Play Sound” in the “Options” tab.
Step 4
In the adjacent box, type the number of slides according to the length of the music track. For example, if you want the music to play while five slides are displayed, enter the number “5” in the dialog box. If for your presentation you prefer the music to be played completely to the end, then type “99”. If you have more than 100 slides, you must indicate it with the figure “999”.
Step 5
Click the “OK” key to save the settings and close the dialog box.
