Search and Remove Folder on Computer

There are several options and methods for you to be able to search a programs, folders or files for different situations. You can search these by using the search box on the Start menu or by using the search box in a folder or library. If you still can’t find the file, folder or program you wish to,  you can try to expand your search to include different locations such as in a different disk drives, the library, folders or any other place you usually save the files and folders.

Search For A Folder

To find a folder, files, programs and other applications using the search box on the Start menu, start by clicking the start button. You would be finding a ‘Search programs and files’ box at the bottom of the start menu (for Windows Vista and 7), type in the name of the folder or the program in the box, the search is based on the text included in the file, folder or program name, tags and other properties.
If your computer isn’t running on a Windows Vista or 7, click on your Start button, and then click Search, this would start your search companion dialogue box. In the Search Companion dialogue box, click on “All files and folders”, type the name or part of the name of the file or folder. The search dialogue box also allows you to expand your search; you have a “Look in” box that would contain several locations. When you have typed in all the information and clicked on all the options you want for your search, click “Search”.

How To Remove A Folder

When you get the results for the search for a folder, you will then be able to see its specific location in the address bar. From here you can then choose to open, move, or remove a folder from its location. If you wish to move the folder in a different location, you can click to highlight the folder, right-click, cut and then paste it in the location you want it to be located. If you wish to remove the folder by deleting it, you can then again click to highlight the folder, right-click and click on delete. You can also delete the folder while it appears on the Start menu after you typed the folder name in the search programs and the file box, hover your mouse over the folder, right-click and click on delete. You can also rename the folder by opening the folder where the file is. Same as deleting a folder you can do it with a quick right-click and then just renaming as per your wish.
