This article describes a home media server,or digital music management scheme (DMMS), for creating, managing and listening to a digital music library, either in the home or while traveling. The scheme has been in daily use since 2003 and has stood the test of time as being simple, reliable and cost-effective. I don’t claim this to be the only or the best possible scheme, but it is offered as one that has been proven to work in practice, rather than being a theoretical description of how things could or should be done. You must decide if this scheme is appropriate for your own use.
